Quarantine Netflix and Chill Recommendations

Two months ago I couldn’t tell you about anything happening on TV. I wasn’t interested, and I haven't been since I was a kid. To break up the boredom, I decided to pick up my old couch potato hobby and really delve into Netflix. I’ve been glued to the tv, and I thought it would be a great idea to share some of my favorites from the week. If you’re like me, you might discover something new.

Horror – Descent

I’ve been on a horror movie kick, but this particular movie was too much for me. I kept my head covered for most of the movie. I couldn’t watch the gore without cringing. At one point I screamed. Human flesh eating creatures in unknown territory? It’s pitch black, there’s no chance of rescue and it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. Descent is perfect if you need a kick in your night.

Comedy – Fall Girls

A fresh, black queen, chick-flick comedy; what more do you need? Usually comedies are a hit or miss for me but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Fall Girls had me laughing the entire time. It was just the right amount of silly and an interesting, but slightly predictable, story line. The characters were hilarious, refreshing and intelligent. And to be honest, I might be a little biased because our black queens are dominating right now. Let’s go girls!

Mystery/Suspense – Occupant

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m happy with the results. was interesting and creepy at the same time. Imagine being so fed up with your life you decide to take someone else’s. We get to watch our main guy’s descent from a decent human being into dangerous psychopath – all because he felt he was a loser. If you like seeing the underdog win, regardless of how he rises to the top, this is for you. It was all just means to an end.

TV Show – Big Little Lies

Warning: these protagonists are nuts. Big Little Lies follows a group of moms that are the scandals of the community. Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley are absolute amazing. I’m not ashamed to say I finished both seasons in the same day. The episodes are long, but the season is short, which I liked. The show isn’t dragged on longer than it needs to be. The story line was intense from start to finish, beginning with a mystery death. I definitely recommend, it’s worth the watch. Disclaimer: If you read the book first, you might not be happy with the show!

Reality Show – Too Hot to Handle

Reality shows usually aren’t my favorite but I had to check this out. We get to follow a group of strangers spend their summer on a beautiful island retreat, with the chance to win $100,000. The only catch: absolutely no sex. They’re supposed to be spending their time growing emotionally, not knocking the boots. And the best part: my favorite YouTube sex education guru Shan Boodram is featured in two episodes! Get your bag girl!
